Removing excess Pattex Contact Transparent is a child's game. No solvents needed, it's safe. Wait until the glue is dry to the touch. Then rub off the excess glue with your fingers and squeeze out a small ball that you can throw away.
You need a pressure roller replacement to properly install it, the adhesive tape only needs a firm and short pressure. The professionals use a pressure roller. Don't worry if you don't have one yourself. You can always use a rolling pin, bottle or something similar instead and roll the pressure evenly over the bonded parts
