وصف الكتابGroup Work in Schools: Preparing, Leading, Responding provides practicing and future school counselors with the knowledge and tools they need to develop and master group skills. Recognizing that school counselors leverage both counseling and psychoeducation in group work, the text presents research, theory, and practices in both counseling and education. The book introduces the types of groups school counselors conduct; important situational, social, and cultural considerations; ethical mandates; and learning theories for group work planning. Additional chapters cover major group development and intervention theories and group leadership methods and styles. Readers learn how to establish effective goals and objectives for groups, assess these goals, and plan meaningful group activities for their groups. The text also describes important intervention skills and strategies for conducting groups and for responding to problems that arise in groups with youth. The second edition includes greater discussion on teaching and learning theories, more attention to group work practices with diverse populations, and expanded descriptions of basic group work skills.Group Work in Schools is an ideal resource for advanced courses in group work and school counseling. The book is also a valuable guide for school counselors, teachers, and administrative staff who lead groups in educational settings.
