About the AuthorDr. Chris Mi is a Fellow of IEEE. He is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at San Diego State University. His research interests are in electric and hybrid vehicles, power electronics, electric drives, battery management systems and wireless power transfer. Dr Mi is a leading expert in electric and hybrid vehicles, and has presented tutorials and seminars on the subject for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the IEEE, National Society of Professional Engineers, government agencies, and major automotive manufacturers and suppliers. He has published more than 200 articles and delivered more than 50 invited talks and keynote speeches, as well as serving as a panellist. Dr. Mi is an Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, was an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and is the recipient of 2016 IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Best Prize Letter Award.Dr. M. Abul Masrur is a Fellow of the IEEE.He received Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1984. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Detroit-Mercy, and has been teaching courses related to Electric and Hybrid Vehicles, Vehicular Power Systems, Electric Drives and Power Electronics. He has been with US Army RDECOM-TARDEC in its Ground Vehicle Power & Mobility Department since 2001. His work primarily includes areas related to vehicular electric power system architecture concept design, hybrid power and propulsion, modelling and simulation, electric power management, and wireless power transfer. Previously he worked at the Scientific Research Labs., Ford Motor Co.Dr. Masrur has around 90 publications, of which about 70 are in the public domain. He is also the co-inventor in 8 US patents, 3 European, and 1 Japanese patent. He served in the past as an Associate Editor on IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. He received the Best Automotive Electronics Paper Award from the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society in 1998. Dr. Masrur also is the co-recipient of the SAE International's Environmental Excellence in Transportation (E2T) Award in Education, Training, & Public Awareness.
